    Abstract

Breast imaging is currently at a cross-road: it is evolving in a very standardized world, surrounded by recommendations, guidelines, quality control etc. Bi-Rads categorization, with a new version expected for 2013, is one very good example of those guidelines worldwide used in breast imaging. To summarize, only a few other domains in imaging field reach this level of standardization. On the other hand, there is a multitude of new ideas around dealing with diagnosis, treatment decision and patient care. These new facts may plunge the specialist of breast imaging into uncertainty, especially as therapeutic strategies with new drugs and new protocols are evolving dramatically. Moreover, the border between imaging and treatment becomes more and more tiny, as some breast interventional imaging techniques are now mixing with therapeutic tools.
