Abstract
Usually the MIRD method is employed to evaluate the doses due to diagnosticapplications of radionuclides. This method has some limitations, because it isbased on reference models and well defined organs. In order to obtain dosimetricevaluations for both the diagnostic and therapeutic uses of radionuclides, wehave developed an interactive software taking into account specific parameters ofthe patient (age, size, weight and sex) and of the radioactive sites (tumor andmetastases). Our software allows to calculate the dose absorbed by the targetorgans due to source organs which are either previously chosen or derived froma skeleton and anatomical maps visualized on a videoscreen. This software thusoffers a personalized dosimetry and meets diagnostic as well as therapeutic needsto evaluate the dose to critical organs such as the bone marrow and gonads.
