Abstract

Laitinen's stereoadapter can be used for fractionated arctherapy of medium sized intracranial arteriovenous malformations. The authors describe a new device to immobilize the patient. The fixation of the frame base is improved. 'Shoulders + head and neck' are tightly held by a personalized collar and a pad which is accurately fitted to it. Every piece of the device is radiotransparent and fixed on a support-plate which fits exactly into the treatment table. This new device, assembled right from the diagnostic stage, seems to ensure excellent reproductibility of the geometrical setup for irradiation.
