Résumé
Robert Debré children's hospital prepares admixtures for pediatric parenteral nutrition in a clean room. A quality assurance program has been developped for this activity. The aim of this study was to make a self-evaluation of personnel preparing Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN) admixtures. Evaluation was performed during six months, based on practices observations, thanks to evaluation forms, and individual conversations with each person. Seventeen persons were evaluated and 45 forms were filled in. It represented 75 hours for evaluations and 5 for individual conversations. The majority of procedures were respected. The results were positive because 77 % of all evaluations practiced were successfull. The evaluation's results were not in correlation with staff seniority. The self-evaluation showed that some mistakes were due to non respect for precautions required for maintening sterility of TPN admixtures, or to insufficient theoretical knowledge. Some corrective measures were taken as redaction of staff's formation and evaluation procedures, trial new boiler suits, or billposting of a brochure about surgical hand washing.
