Résumé
In this special issue of Oncology, mentoring medical doctors, constantly committed to improve education and training of early researchers and investigators, summarize the most relevant topics that were presented at the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) meeting in Chicago, IL. Our purpose here is to give the readers a concise report of the presentations that warrant particular attention. This year's AACR theme was "Driving Innovative Cancer Science to Patient Care". The five-day multidisciplinary program covered all aspects of cancer science from basic to translational as well as to clinical research. The meeting highlighted the latest and most exciting findings, including advances in immuno-oncology, and personalized medicine. In addition, the latest discoveries on neo-epitope vaccination, a very promising pathway of research especially in combination with immunotherapy treatments were mentioned. In addition, this year our main interest was on CAR-T cell technology and the principle of adoptive T-cell transfer and also in the CRISPR system, the new fundamental biotechnology tool to genome editing. Finally, we presented new approaches to target CDK4/6 and MEK-ERK-mTOR pathways.
