Résumé
Today, surgery remains the only treatment with curative intent for macroscopic lateral neck node metastases for differentiated and medullary thyroid cancer. With experience, lateral neck dissection can be routinely performed safely and effectively. This chapter aims at clearly defining the different types of lateral neck dissections employed for thyroid cancer and their anatomical limits, indications and potential complications, with tips for rarer but typical locations to explore for 'hidden lymph nodes' and means to minimize morbidity.
