Résumé
The Management of tracheal intubation is framed by guidelines. However, extubation remains a critical stage after general anesthesia, leading to unstability of upper airways, associated with significant morbidity. ENT surgery is in itself a risk factor of difficult extubation, and patients may have also significant comorbidities associated with a decrease in pulmonary and cardiac reserve, especially in cancer surgery. This article introduces a four-steps strategy to reduce the risk of tracheal extubation in ENT and stomatologic surgery, according to the new guidelines of the French national society of anaesthesiology.
