Résumé
Individualized measurements of quality of life in oncology can bring specific and additional information compared to standardized measurements of quality of life. This paper illustrates the specific contribution of the French version of the "Schedule Evaluation of Individual Quality Of Life" among patients treated for a neuroendocrine tumour. This tool allows patients to personally evaluate life's most important domains for their quality of life. In the present study, we compare data resulting from the SEIQoL-DW with results from the widely used QLQ-C-30. For that purpose, 130 patients were examined. Results indicate that the acceptability and the sensitivity of the SEIQoL are very satisfactory. The family is the first domain quoted by patients (86%), before health (61%). The score of the SEIQoL appears correlated with the scores of the QLQ-C-30 overall but this correlation remains weak, except for the scores of emotional functioning (FE) and the global assessment of health (EGS). Unlike the QLQ-C-30, the SEIQoL is a generic tool which does not refer to the disease but investigates everyday lives of patients as a whole and with their own values. Also it provides as much information about patient adjustment troubles as it does about adaptive resources. The SEIQoL appears very useful when an individual and global coverage is needed.
