Résumé
Imatinib represents the first step in treating chronic myeloid leukemia. The modern therapy significantly changed the natural disease progression, and allowed for the treatment to adapt to the patient's lifestyle. This gave the patients hope to have a child. This paper discusses the country' only two cases of successful pregnancies of spouses of male patients treated with lmatinib. The first patient was diagnosed in 1999, at the age of 29. lmatinib therapy (400 mg/day) started in the fall of 2005, and achieved significant molecular response. The second patient was diagnosed in 2003, and has been treated with lmatinib (400 mg/day) since the spring of 2005, with analogous therapeutic result. The children - a boy and a girl - were born one year ago after normal pregnancies, and are developing well. Delivery considerations in both cases are solely based on the obstetric indicators of the mother. In Bulgaria, there are still no cases of pregnancies of female patients treated with tyrosine kinase inhibitors.
